Helpful Tips From Country Faith Pastures!

If you are like me and bathe your Pyre at least once a month, then we highly recommend using Burt's Bees doggy Shampoo! It is gentle on your dog's skin without harsh chemicals and has a nice sweet scent! This shampoo leaves their fur soft, clean, and fresh! We love all of Burt's Bees doggy products!

If you didn't know that Great Pyrenees are prone to ear infections, then you are now! Especially after a bath, a Great Pyrenees can get an ear infection that is painful to them and you to have to watch them hurt! That's why we clean our Pyres' ears out once a week with the ear wipes and flush their ears out with the ear flush after each bath to prevent infection!

Do you have trouble with flies and gnats buzzing around your Pyre when you are outside with them? Well, you are in luck! We use this fly spray that works like a dream! It smells amazing and keeps the flies off! It is all natural which is great for your furry friend and we highly recommend using it for your outdoor play time!

If you struggle with smell of "dog" in your home, (or outdoor dog kennel in our case) then this is the product for you! We have Orange Blossom scent and it is amazing! It eliminates the smell of dog and keeps your home smelling nice and fresh! We love this stuff! It is not full of harsh chemicals or fragrances, making it a perfect substitution for a pet home!

Before we have company, we like to light this candle! It smells heavenly! (If you like watermelon scent!)

This candle helps with the urine smell that can linger in our dog kennels sometimes! If you light this candle it immediately eliminates the smell! If used with the Meyer's Orange Blossom scent, you have a harmony of sweet scent that is nice and homey! This candle is made with beeswax and essential oils for its sweet watermelon smell! No fragrance or chemicals burned into the air making it an ideal choice to burn in a home with pets! (It comes in a bunch of different scents!)

Do you struggle with a dry nose on your outdoor Pyre? Well, If your Pyres like to dig in the cool dirt like ours do, then rub some bag balm on their nose to keep it moistened and not dried out from the dirt! This stuff also helps with keeping frost bite off of their paws in the winter! We use Bag Balm on our mama's nipples when she is pregnant and nursing to prevent mastitis from dry and cracked breasts.

Let's Talk Fleas, Ticks, and Worms.

We all know that fleas and ticks can be annoying! When you find a tick on your dog... it's gross! We use Sentry FiproGuard Plus for our Pyres! It works very well at keeping the fleas and ticks away from them. It lasts about 3 months for our dogs. Of course, we get it for dogs 89-132 lbs!! Definitely use this for your Great Pyrenees to keep away the nasty parasites!! In a situation like fleas and ticks, this is the best option we found that worked for our thick coated dogs. Fleas and ticks can be harmful to dogs and keeping those pests away from your pup is vital!

Okay, Heartworm prevention is probably the best and first thing to get your puppy started on! I cannot express the importance of getting your puppy started on heartworm prevention. We use Heartgard Plus, and not only does it cover heartworms, but hookworms and roundworms as well! Just one chewable once a month and you are all set! We get ours from our vet, but you can get it online! Our dogs love these chewies, and will actually do a trick for them!!

We worm our dongs twice a year with Panacur C. This covers every intestinal worm! Because the Heartgard Plus covers two worms, we use this to take care of any other worms that may be lurking. This works very well and keeps the nasty worms at bay! Our dogs have never had trouble with intestinal worms. We give this to our puppies and nursing dams when we have a litter of puppies.
